Overview

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for a General Worker: Stores position at Paarl Hospital. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in a stores or warehouse environment who are physically fit and committed to supporting efficient stock management within a healthcare facility.

Salary

R144,024 โ€“ R169,656 per annum, plus service benefits including:

  • 13th cheque

Key Responsibilities

– Deliver stock to hospital wards, theatres, administration buildings, and other departments.

– Return completed issue vouchers to the relevant clerk for capturing and filing.

– Assist with receiving, checking, packing, unpacking, storing, and issuing stock according to established procedures.

– Help maintain effective stock control systems and inventory records.

– Assist with stocktaking and general stores administration.

– Safeguard store equipment, consumables, and inventory.

– Keep the stores clean, organised, and compliant with safety regulations.

– Perform filing and other administrative support duties when required.

– Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Appropriate experience in a stores or warehouse environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and able to follow procedures accurately.

Inherent Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy boxes.
  • Willingness to assist other departments when required.
  • Ability to work overtime, after hours, and weekends when operationally necessary.
