Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a professional and vigilant Security Guard to join its Cape Road branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting company assets, staff, customers, and property by maintaining a safe and secure environment in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act and Dis-Chem’s security standards.

Key Responsibilities

– Monitor and protect the store, staff, customers, and company assets.

– Conduct regular patrols of the premises to identify security risks.

– Control access to the premises for staff, customers, suppliers, and visitors.

– Perform searches of staff, suppliers, merchandise, and vehicles where required.

– Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment.

– Complete occurrence books, security registers, and incident reports.

– Investigate and report suspicious activities, theft, damage, or unlawful entry.

– Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.

– Conduct daily vehicle and personnel inspections.

– Respond promptly to emergencies and assist law enforcement or emergency services when required.

– Enforce company security procedures and safety regulations.

– Deliver professional and courteous customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
  • Valid PSIRA Grade C Accreditation.
  • Current PSIRA Registration.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a retail security environment such as shopping centres, warehouses, or retail stores.
  • Previous experience in a similar security role will be advantageous.
  • Clear criminal and credit record.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Valid driver’s licence, own reliable transport, and PDP will be advantageous when required.

  • Knowledge of PSIRA regulations and security procedures.
  • Fire emergency and occupational health and safety knowledge.
  • Excellent observation and surveillance skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Good conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and during emergencies.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare accurate incident reports.
