Overview
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is recruiting two General Workers (Stores) to join the Stores environment at Tygerberg Hospital in Parow Valley.
The successful candidates will assist with receiving, storing, issuing, picking and delivering stock to different areas of the hospital. They will also assist with stocktaking, cleaning the stores and maintaining accurate delivery records.
This is a physically demanding position that requires candidates to be able to lift and move heavy boxes or bags and pull loaded pallets using a pallet jack.
The minimum educational requirement is basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
– Pick stock according to approved requests and orders.
– Deliver issued stock to hospital wards, clinics, theatres and departments.
– Ensure stock is delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
– Maintain an accurate audit trail of stock deliveries.
– Assist with receiving incoming stock.
– Assist with issuing stock to relevant departments.
– Help store and organise stock correctly within the warehouse/stores environment.
– Assist with regular stocktaking activities.
– Keep the stores and stock areas clean and organised.
– Move boxes, bags and other stock as required.
– Use pallet jacks to move pallets containing stock to different hospital wards and departments.
– Support general warehouse and stores operations.
– Perform other reasonable ad-hoc duties when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Appropriate knowledge of a warehouse or stores environment.
- Appropriate experience in a Warehouse Management environment.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy boxes or bags.
- Physical ability to pull heavy pallets containing stock using a pallet jack.
- Willingness to participate in stocktaking activities.

Salary and Benefits
The position offers an annual salary of:
