Overview:
The Eastern Cape Department of Education invites applications for the role of General Worker at 25 schools. This position supports the day-to-day upkeep of the school facilities and assists in creating a clean, safe, and conducive environment for learning and teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

-Perform cleaning duties in school facilities (classrooms, offices, toilets, and schoolyard)

-Assist with loading and offloading goods or equipment

-Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks

-Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly

-Support groundskeeping duties such as lawn care, sweeping, and refuse removal

-Report any safety hazards or maintenance needs to supervisors

-Adhere to health and safety regulations during tasks

-Assist with other duties as assigned by the School Management Team

Requirements and Skills:

-Grade 9 or school leaving certificate

-Testimonial from school principal

-Proof of participation in the PEYI programme will be an advantage

-Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labour

-Responsible, punctual, and trustworthy

-Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision

-Basic understanding of hygiene and safety practices

-Commitment to upholding Public Service principles including dignity, respect, and inclusivity
