Overview

I&J, a division of AVI Limited and one of South Africa’s leading seafood companies, is looking for an Ice Plant Cleaner to join its team at the Waterfront in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high cleaning and hygiene standards within the ice plant, ensuring compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations while supporting the refrigeration team.

Key Responsibilities

– Maintain cleanliness throughout the ice plant in accordance with company cleaning procedures.

– Follow the Ice Plant cleaning code and food safety standards.

– Conduct routine inspections to ensure HACCP compliance.

– Complete cleaning and maintenance tasks as instructed by the Refrigeration Foreman.

– Ensure the ice plant is kept clean and hygienic at all times.

– Assist the Ice Plant Operator with general maintenance duties when required.

– Report any compliance, hygiene, or operational issues to the Ice Plant Supervisor.

– Support safe working practices and maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Minimum of 1–5 years’ relevant cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of HR policies will be advantageous.
• Ability to work in a food manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.
