Overview

Rand Water invites qualifying students to apply for the 2026 External Bursary Programme.

This bursary is aimed at supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students who are interested in building careers in the water sector, engineering, science, and related fields.

The programme provides financial assistance to help students complete their studies while contributing to the development of critical skills in South Africa.

Civil Engineering (BTech/BSc) – 1st or 2nd Year (X2)
Water Science & Sanitation (BSc) – 2nd Year (X1)
Chemistry (BSc Hons) – 2nd Year (X1)
Water Science & Technology (Diploma) – 2nd Year (X1)
Architecture (BArch) – 1st or 2nd Year (X1)
Electrical/Electronic Engineering (BSc/BEng) – 1st or 2nd Year (X4)
Geomatics / Surveying – 1st Year (X1)
Mechanical Engineering (BSc) – 1st or 2nd Year (X1)
Accounting (BCom) – 1st or 2nd Year (X1)
Law (LLB) – 2nd Year (X3)
Microbiology (BSc Hons) – 1st or 2nd Year (X1)
Public Health (Masters) – 2nd Year (X1)

Minimum Requirements

-Must be a South African citizen

-Must be from previously disadvantaged groups (ACI)

-Must have passed Matric or equivalent

-Currently studying in one of the listed fields

-Minimum academic average of 65%

-Must not have any other bursary or funding

-Must be under the age of 35 years

-Must be a full-time student at a recognised institution

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

-Certified copy of ID document

-Certified copy of Matric certificate

-Latest academic record

-Proof of registration for current academic year
