Overview:
Gaborone City Council invites applications from suitably qualified Botswana citizens for the position of Temporary Health Care Assistant. This role is crucial in supporting health services across various facilities by delivering basic patient care and ensuring smooth referral processes. It is a 12-month contract aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery at the community level.
Position Purpose:
The main responsibility is to provide basic nursing support services to patients and refer them to relevant service points as needed. The assistant will also help maintain a clean and safe environment within the health facility.
Key Responsibilities:
-Escort and assist patients within and between departments.
-Support patients with basic needs such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and hygiene maintenance.
-Record and monitor patientsโ conditions before and after interventions.
-Provide counselling on patient conditions and help them manage their health situations.
-Maintain cleanliness of patient areas, including bedpans and linen.
-Assist with inventory and budgeting through reporting unit needs.
-Participate in promotional health activities, research, and benchmarking initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:
-Certificate in Health Care Assistance or Health Care Auxiliary
-No prior work experience required
-Must be a citizen of Botswana
-Age between 18 and 45 years
