Overview
Woolworths is recruiting Customer Assistants and Till Operators for 14 advertised opportunities across selected stores in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
These roles are suitable for candidates with Grade 12 who enjoy working with customers and are interested in building experience within the retail industry.
Successful candidates will primarily assist customers at till points, process purchases and payments, promote Woolworths services and loyalty programmes, and help maintain a professional and welcoming shopping environment.
Some positions may also include merchandising, food, W-Cellar, or Fashion, Beauty & Home responsibilities depending on the store.
Key Responsibilities
– Welcome customers and provide friendly and professional service.
– Process customer purchases accurately at till points.
– Handle cash, card and other approved payment methods.
– Promote relevant Woolworths loyalty programmes and services.
– Assist with services such as airtime sales and utility bill payments where applicable.
– Check prices and help resolve pricing discrepancies.
– Maintain a clean, organised and safe till area.
– Assist customers with basic product enquiries.
– Support store promotions and campaigns.
– Follow loss-prevention procedures to help minimise shrinkage.
– Report suspicious activities or transaction irregularities.
– Assist with merchandising where required.
– Work efficiently during busy trading periods.
– Follow Woolworths policies relating to attendance, hygiene and dress standards.
Requirements and Skills
- Grade 12 / Matric or an equivalent NQF qualification.
- Basic selling skills.
- Good customer-service skills.
- Friendly and professional communication skills.
- Ability to process transactions accurately.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic product knowledge.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Honesty, reliability and professionalism.
- Ability to remain calm when working under pressure.
