Overview

The Customer Assistant (Cashier) is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale. The role ensures accurate processing of transactions, effective handling of payments and creating a positive shopping experience for customers in line with Woolworths standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and process customer transactions accurately
• Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service
• Handle cash, card and other payment methods securely
• Ensure correct scanning and pricing of items
• Promote current promotions and loyalty programmes
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation at the till area
• Resolve basic customer queries or escalate when necessary
• Follow store procedures and company policies at all times

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Previous cashier or retail experience will be an advantage
• Strong communication skills
• Good numerical ability and attention to detail
• Honest and trustworthy when handling cash
• Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
