Overview
The Customer Assistant (Cashier) is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale. The role ensures accurate processing of transactions, effective handling of payments and creating a positive shopping experience for customers in line with Woolworths standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and process customer transactions accurately
- Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service
- Handle cash, card and other payment methods securely
- Ensure correct scanning and pricing of items
- Promote current promotions and loyalty programmes
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation at the till area
- Resolve basic customer queries or escalate when necessary
- Follow store procedures and company policies at all times
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Previous cashier or retail experience will be an advantage
- Strong communication skills
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail
- Honest and trustworthy when handling cash
- Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
