Overview

The Customer Assistant (Cashier) is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale. The role ensures accurate processing of transactions, effective handling of payments and creating a positive shopping experience for customers in line with Woolworths standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate the cash register and process customer transactions accurately
Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service
Handle cash, card and other payment methods securely
Ensure correct scanning and pricing of items
Promote current promotions and loyalty programmes
Maintain cleanliness and organisation at the till area
Resolve basic customer queries or escalate when necessary
Follow store procedures and company policies at all times

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
Previous cashier or retail experience will be an advantage
Strong communication skills
Good numerical ability and attention to detail
Honest and trustworthy when handling cash
Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
