Job Opportunity
Pick n Pay is inviting applications for its Master Bake Learnership Programme in the Western Cape.
This 12-month programme is designed for young South Africans who are passionate about baking and want to build a career in the bakery and retail industry.
Successful candidates will receive hands-on bakery training, workplace experience, and work towards a recognised qualification while learning professional baking skills in a retail environment.
What You Will Learn
โข Produce a variety of breads, rolls, and baked goods
โข Prepare and bake standard confectionery items
โข Operate bakery equipment and tools safely
โข Measure and prepare ingredients accurately
โข Mix, ferment, and handle dough correctly
โข Understand food safety and hygiene standards
โข Apply baking techniques, proofing, and baking methods
โข Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the bakery
โข Store ingredients and finished products correctly
โข Understand stock control and inventory handling
โข Reduce wastage and improve efficiency
โข Deliver customer service within a retail bakery environment
โข Practice workplace professionalism and discipline
Minimum Requirements
โข South African citizen aged between 18โ34 years
โข Grade 12 certificate OR National Certificate: Hospitality Level 4
โข Not registered for another wholesale or retail learnership programme
โข Passion for baking and food preparation
โข Good communication skills
โข Willingness to learn
โข Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
โข Willing to work early shifts, weekends, and public holidays
๐ Preference will be given to candidates residing in and around Atlantis, Western Cape.
