Job Opportunity

Pick n Pay is inviting applications for its Master Bake Learnership Programme in the Western Cape.

This 12-month programme is designed for young South Africans who are passionate about baking and want to build a career in the bakery and retail industry.

Successful candidates will receive hands-on bakery training, workplace experience, and work towards a recognised qualification while learning professional baking skills in a retail environment.

What You Will Learn

• Produce a variety of breads, rolls, and baked goods
• Prepare and bake standard confectionery items
• Operate bakery equipment and tools safely
• Measure and prepare ingredients accurately
• Mix, ferment, and handle dough correctly
• Understand food safety and hygiene standards
• Apply baking techniques, proofing, and baking methods
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the bakery
• Store ingredients and finished products correctly
• Understand stock control and inventory handling
• Reduce wastage and improve efficiency
• Deliver customer service within a retail bakery environment
• Practice workplace professionalism and discipline

Minimum Requirements

• South African citizen aged between 18–34 years
• Grade 12 certificate OR National Certificate: Hospitality Level 4
• Not registered for another wholesale or retail learnership programme
• Passion for baking and food preparation
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
• Willing to work early shifts, weekends, and public holidays

📌 Preference will be given to candidates residing in and around Atlantis, Western Cape.
