Overview
Sun International is seeking a professional and customer-focused Butler to join its hospitality team in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will provide personalised service to guests throughout their stay. Responsibilities include welcoming guests, assisting with check-in, arranging dining and entertainment, serving meals and beverages, coordinating special requests and ensuring guest rooms and suites meet the expected standards.
This position is suitable for candidates with Grade 12 and at least two years of relevant hospitality, butler or personalised customer-service experience.
Key Responsibilities
– Welcome guests warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure.
– Provide personalised service and assist guests throughout their stay.
– Inform guests about available facilities, services, promotions and rewards programmes.
– Recommend and arrange suitable amenities, activities and entertainment.
– Serve meals and beverages to guests.
– Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions and product availability.
– Inform relevant departments about guest allergies, dietary requirements and food preferences.
– Assist with laundry requests, wake-up calls, spa bookings, errands, concierge services and transportation.
– Coordinate other special guest requests with the appropriate departments.
– Record transactions and orders accurately on the relevant systems.
– Capture guest feedback and comments.
– Check on guests during food and beverage service to ensure satisfaction.
– Coordinate daily room cleaning and turn-down services with housekeeping.
– Maintain good knowledge of room types, layouts, locations, dรฉcor, facilities and equipment.
– Monitor supplies and replenish stock when necessary.
– Anticipate guest requirements and provide prompt assistance.
– Prepare or provide guest billing where required.
– Resolve guest complaints and requests professionally, escalating matters where necessary.
– Follow hotel safety, hygiene and service policies at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Butler or in a customer-service environment providing personalised guest experiences.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide professional and personalised customer service.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to work effectively within a hospitality environment.

Candidates should also demonstrate professionalism, excellent attention to detail and the ability to anticipate guests’ needs.
