About the Role
As a Cashier, you will be responsible for accurately processing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions while delivering fast, friendly and efficient customer service. You will ensure that all goods are paid for before leaving the store and assist in maintaining accurate cash handling and administrative procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
-Process all Point of Sale (POS) transactions accurately.
-Ensure all cash, floats and petty cash balance correctly.
-Capture the correct payment methods for customer purchases.
-Maintain sufficient change throughout your shift.
-Perform accurate cash pick-ups and cash-ups.
-Deposit daily takings into the drop safe or vault.
-Process transactions relating to deliveries, quotes and other store payments.
Customer Service
-Provide fast, friendly and efficient customer service.
-Assist customers during the checkout process.
-Direct customers to the appropriate staff member when additional assistance is required.
-Maintain a professional appearance and comply with the company dress code.
Administration
-Complete, sign and file cashier-related documentation.
-Ensure all records are accurate and up to date.
Safety and Security
-Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) requirements.
-Report discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager.
-Protect cash and maintain till password security.
-Follow Cashbuild’s procedures for cash handling and transportation.
Store Operations
- Adhere to Cashbuild’s “Ready for Business” standards.
- Support efficient daily store operations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.
- Basic numerical skills and the ability to perform calculations accurately.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
