About the Role

As a Forklift Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining the forklift while supporting store operations. The role includes loading customer purchases, merchandising stock, maintaining housekeeping standards and ensuring a safe working environment.

You will also assist customers by providing excellent service and ensuring products are handled carefully and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Forklift Operations

-Operate the forklift safely and efficiently.

-Perform daily forklift inspections and complete checklists.

-Report any mechanical faults immediately.

-Ensure the forklift is serviced on schedule.

-Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) requirements.

-Wear the required personal protective equipment while operating the forklift.

Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers professionally.
  • Help customers with product enquiries.
  • Assist with customer complaints.
  • Load customer purchases carefully without causing damage.
  • Promote additional products and services.
  • Inform customers about services such as:
    • Delivery services
    • Glass cutting
    • Plan reading
    • Credit programmes
    • Special orders
    • Trusses
    • Distance ordering
    • VIC Customer Programme

Merchandising

  • Merchandise stock according to approved layouts and planograms.
  • Ensure shelves and bulk stock areas are fully stocked.
  • Maintain accurate shelf pricing.

Housekeeping

  • Keep assigned areas clean, organised and free of hazards.
  • Ensure stock is packed away immediately after delivery.
  • Complete housekeeping checklists as required.

Administration

  • Follow Cashbuild’s “Ready for Business” standards.
  • Monitor stationery and store supplies where required.
  • Assist with stock control and loss prevention.
  • Report suspicious activity or stock discrepancies to management.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • A valid Forklift Licence.
  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the area.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Physical fitness to operate a forklift.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
