Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting an experienced Cashier for its Berea Pharmacy in East London. This permanent retail opportunity focuses on delivering exceptional customer service at point of sale while ensuring accurate transaction processing and strict compliance with company policies.
The role requires strong numerical accuracy, integrity and attention to detail to eliminate fraud risk and maintain a world-class shopping experience.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months cashier or till operations experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong command of English (written and spoken)
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Third additional language
Key Responsibilities
-Operate the cash register and process all transactions accurately
-Receive and process payments (cash, cards, vouchers and other accepted methods)
-Process loyalty cards and partner rewards programmes
-Maintain strict cash control and ensure safe cash handling procedures
-Ensure all voids and price changes are approved
-Exchange and return merchandise as authorised
-Adhere to Dis-Chemโs 5-star communication principles
-Report suspicious behaviour and customer concerns to management
-Maintain confidentiality regarding daily takings
-Ensure all stock and scripts are scanned and paid for
-Follow security policies and fraud prevention procedures
-Monitor hourly customer turnover targets
