Overview

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for the position of Cleaner at Victoria Hospital. This opportunity is ideal for hardworking individuals who are committed to maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe healthcare environment that supports quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

– Perform daily cleaning of hospital wards, offices, passages, and public areas.

– Dust, sweep, vacuum, polish, scrub, and mop floors and surfaces.

– Clean windows, toilets, bathrooms, and other sanitation facilities.

– Remove general refuse and medical waste according to health and safety procedures.

– Maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the hospital.

– Safeguard cleaning equipment and supplies.

– Assist in preventing health and safety risks and medico-legal incidents.

– Carry out additional cleaning duties as required by supervisors.

Entry Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare or hospital environment.
• Willingness to work shifts.
• Physically fit and able to lift and handle heavy cleaning equipment.
• Willingness to rotate between departments according to operational requirements.

Salary and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from R144,024 to R169,656.
