Overview

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for a General Worker (Stores) position at Victoria Hospital. The successful candidate will assist with the receiving, storage, distribution, and movement of stock and equipment to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital and surrounding healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities

– Load and offload stock from delivery vehicles.

– Transport stock and supplies to various hospital departments and clinics.

– Receive and unpack stock from bulk stores.

– Prepare stock for courier distribution and collection.

– Pack and store stock according to established procedures.

– Rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.

– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the stores area.

– Assist with moving hospital equipment when required.

– Support filing and general administrative duties.

– Participate in stock-taking and inventory control processes.

Entry Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence.
• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy boxes.
• Experience working in a warehouse, stores, or stock distribution environment.

Skills and Competencies

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently.
• Good organisational and stock-handling skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, responsible, and hardworking.
• Understanding of basic warehouse and stock control procedures.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: R144,024 – R169,656 per annum.
• 13th cheque.
