About the Role

As a Forklift Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, packaging, finished goods and pallets throughout the production and warehouse environment. You will play an important role in ensuring production lines remain supplied, warehouse operations run smoothly and safety procedures are followed at all times.

This position offers the opportunity to work in one of South Africa’s leading beverage manufacturing companies while supporting daily production and logistics operations.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Forklift Operations

-Operate forklift equipment safely in production, warehouse and staging areas.

-Conduct daily forklift inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.

-Load, unload and transport raw materials, packaging, finished products, pallets and waste bins.

Material Handling and Line Support

-Ensure continuous supply of materials to production lines.

-Remove completed pallets and transport them to storage or dispatch areas.

-Support efficient material flow to minimise production downtime.

Warehouse Operations

-Move stock between stores, warehouses and production areas.

-Stack pallets safely and maintain organised storage areas.

-Assist with warehouse material movement according to operational requirements.

Safety and Compliance

-Comply with all SHEQ, GMP and food safety requirements.

-Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

-Follow designated travel routes and speed limits.

-Safely transport hazardous or flammable materials where required.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean and organised work areas using 5S principles.
  • Remove waste and excess materials from production areas.
  • Assist with pallet and bin organisation to improve workflow.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Work closely with Production Process Controllers and production teams.
  • Communicate material shortages or operational constraints.
  • Support loading and offloading activities during deliveries and shift changes.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

-Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.

-A valid Forklift Operator’s Licence (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck depending on site requirements).

-At least 2 years’ forklift driving experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.

-Experience working within production and warehouse operations.

-Experience using SAP or a Warehouse Management System (WMS) will be an advantage.


Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Safe and accurate forklift operating skills.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules and job instructions.
  • Understanding of inventory movement and material replenishment.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and stock rotation.
  • Understanding of SHEQ, GMP and food safety standards.
  • Basic mechanical awareness to identify equipment faults.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning and inventory systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Performance Measures

Performance in this role may be assessed on:

  • Accuracy of material movement.
  • Forklift utilisation and availability.
  • Safety performance and incident prevention.
  • Reduction of production downtime caused by material shortages.
  • Housekeeping and 5S audit results.
  • Accuracy of SAP/WMS transactions.
  • Compliance with PPE and safety procedures.
