Job Overview
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk (Batch Controller) to support financial administration and batch control processes. The successful candidate will help manage accounting documents, monitor financial transactions, prepare reports and ensure compliance with government financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
-Manage and safeguard accounting documents (Batch Control).
-Monitor compliance with accounting policies and National Public Works financial procedures.
-Control and monitor documents relating to transversal financial systems.
-Ensure correct allocation of expenditure and revenue.
-Generate BAS financial reports and other management reports.
-Assist with budget preparation and cash flow budgeting.
-Assist with monthly financial reporting.
-Perform cashier-related duties when required.
-Support the State Accountant with financial administration activities.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) or an equivalent qualification.
- No previous work experience required.
- A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of a financial environment will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of government legislation, regulations and financial policies.
- Computer literacy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and results-driven attitude.
- Willingness to accept responsibility.
