Position Type: Permanent, Contract and Part-time

Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting Merchandisers and Health Merchandisers for nine job opportunities across the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards, replenishing stock, keeping shelves properly presented and providing friendly assistance to customers. These positions are suitable for organised and physically fit individuals who are interested in building experience within the retail and FMCG industry.

Key Responsibilities

– Replenish merchandise to ensure products are available for customers.

– Pack delivered stock and items from the storeroom in the correct designated areas.

– Ensure shelves remain fully stocked, clean and properly presented.

– Rotate stock according to the first-in, first-out principle.

– Check stock for expiry and sell-by dates.

– Report low stock, out-of-stock products, expired items and damaged merchandise.

– Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking activities.

– Follow store layouts, planograms and merchandising standards.

– Check that products are correctly labelled and priced.

– Report pricing discrepancies to store management.

– Build, face up and maintain promotional displays.

– Assist with loading and offloading stock deliveries.

– Mark products without barcodes clearly and correctly.

– Assist customers with product and stock-related enquiries.

– Follow up on customer requests for unavailable products.

– Maintain designated stock areas on the sales floor and in the storeroom.

– Handle merchandise carefully to minimise stock losses and damage.

– Maintain store cleanliness and flatten packaging after unpacking stock.

– Comply with company procedures, health and safety rules and security requirements.

– Assist with the training of new employees when required.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or Matric.
• Up to six months of retail experience.
• At least one year of retail experience will be advantageous.
• Computer literacy, including basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
• Willingness and availability to work retail hours.
• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy boxes.
• Reliable transport or residence close to the relevant store.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear criminal and credit records.

• Honest, trustworthy and reliable.
• Professional and presentable appearance.

• FMCG, product and category knowledge will be beneficial.
• Bilingual communication skills will be advantageous.
• Ability to identify and report suspicious behaviour.
• Ability to interpret stock and merchandising reports will be advantageous.

Remuneration

Successful candidates will receive a market-related salary based on the position and employment terms.
