Overview:
Harry Gwala District Municipality is recruiting 252 unemployed individuals under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) for the role of Water Monitor. This initiative is intended to support community development and service delivery in the water and sanitation sector across all local municipal wards within the district.


Position Purpose:
Water Monitors will assist the municipality in monitoring water supply systems, identifying and reporting faults, promoting water conservation, and supporting basic plumbing tasks. The aim is to ensure improved access and quality of water services in rural and peri-urban communities.


Key Responsibilities:

-Execute duties as directed by a qualified plumber or supervisor.

-Check and record reservoir water levels; assist in water rationing when required.

-Identify and report leaks or faults in the water supply system.

-Perform duties related to the supply of clean water and sanitation services.

-Promote water-saving practices in local communities.


Requirements:

-Must be a South African citizen and reside within the Harry Gwala District and the specific ward you are applying for.

-Must be unemployed and under the age of 60.

-Preference will be given to candidates who have never participated in EPWP before.

-Youth, women, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
