Overview
Blaauwklippen is looking for two professional and customer-focused Barman / Pool Attendants to join its Food and Beverage team in Stellenbosch. The successful candidates will deliver exceptional poolside hospitality by providing outstanding beverage service, maintaining immaculate pool facilities, and ensuring guests enjoy a memorable experience.
This role combines bar operations, guest service, stock management, and teamwork within one of the Cape Winelands’ renowned hospitality destinations.
Key Responsibilities
Poolside Operations
– Ensure the pool, deck, loungers, umbrellas, and pool bar are clean, organised, and guest-ready.
– Maintain a welcoming atmosphere through high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
– Provide clean pool towels and respond promptly to guest requests.
– Enforce pool safety rules, including ensuring no glass is used in the pool area.
– Report maintenance and safety concerns immediately.
– Complete end-of-shift cleaning, waste removal, and pool area setup for the next shift.
Beverage Service & Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Deliver professional, personalised customer service.
- Recommend beverages and assist guests with menu selections.
- Operate bar equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Clear and reset tables while ensuring glassware and cutlery remain clean and polished.
Stock Control & Administration
- Conduct daily beverage stock counts.
- Monitor stock levels and report replenishment requirements.
- Apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation principles.
- Assist with receiving supplier deliveries and checking stock quality.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately.
- Complete daily financial reconciliation and shift checklists.
- Report and explain any stock variances immediately.
Teamwork & Training
- Work closely with bartenders, waiters, kitchen staff, and Food & Beverage attendants.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior team members.
- Participate in cross-training across food and beverage operations.
- Attend all required hospitality, safety, financial, and beverage training sessions.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Previous hospitality, bar, restaurant, or Food & Beverage experience preferred.
- Lifeguard certification will be advantageous.
- Computer literacy, including POS systems and Opera PMS.
- Good knowledge of wines, cocktails, spirits, and bar operations.
- Professional appearance and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.

Shift Schedule
- Early Shift: 06:30 โ 16:00
- Late Shift: 13:00 โ 22:00
- Night Shift (when required): 22:00 โ 07:00
Overtime may be required and will be communicated by management in advance.
