Job Overview

The Office of the Chief Justice is looking for a dedicated Typist to provide typing and administrative support within the High Court. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing court documents, typing judgments and court orders, maintaining court registers, and ensuring court documentation is accurately processed and distributed.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

-Type court orders, court documents and official reports.

-Type judges’ judgments accurately and timeously.

-Compile term rolls, weekly rolls and unopposed motion rolls.

-Maintain court registers and related records.

-Submit judgments and relevant court documents to stakeholders.

-Ensure court documentation is processed efficiently.

-Perform general administrative duties related to court operations.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • No previous work experience required.
  • A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • Dictaphone typing skills.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Legal terminology.
    • Court procedures and court environment.
    • Filing systems.
    • Batho Pele Principles.
    • Public Service Regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Strong customer service and client orientation.
