Overview
Midvaal Local Municipality is recruiting a Pest & Weed Operator for its municipal operations.
This opportunity is suitable for hardworking individuals with pest control, weed control, parks maintenance, or gardening experience who are interested in municipal environmental maintenance work.
Successful candidates will assist with pest and weed control operations, maintenance of equipment, and safe application of pesticides and related products.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 qualification
- Grade 12 will be advantageous
- Valid Driverโs Licence
- PrDP will be advantageous
- Pest & Weed Operator Certificate advantageous
- Minimum 1 year experience in:
- Parks Section within Local Government OR
- Pest and weed control operations
- Ability to read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

Key Responsibilities
Pest & Weed Control Duties
- Operate knapsack and related pest control equipment
- Apply pesticides safely according to procedures
- Control weeds and insects in municipal areas
- Follow environmental and public safety procedures
Equipment & Maintenance Duties
- Maintain knapsack and grass-cutting machines
- Inspect tools and equipment regularly for damage
- Use garden tools and machinery when required
- Read and understand safety data sheets before product use
Operational Support
- Perform full-day duties when operationally required
- Perform additional ad hoc duties requested by management
