About the Role
As a Bakers Assistant, you will support the Baker in preparing, baking and finishing a variety of bakery products according to Pick n Pay’s recipe specifications and food safety standards.
You will also assist with maintaining a clean bakery, serving customers and ensuring that all bakery operations run efficiently while delivering high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Bakery Production
-Assist the Baker in preparing bakery products.
-Help bake and finish products according to recipe specifications.
-Provide general assistance during production.
-Prepare bakery wastage for reporting.
Cleaning and Housekeeping
-Clean bakery equipment and utensils.
-Ensure all bakery areas meet Pick n Pay Food Safety Standards.
-Clean the back-up and preparation areas.
-Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the bakery.
Customer Service
-Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner.
-Provide assistance with bakery product enquiries.
-Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
Equipment and Operational Support
-Report faulty machinery and equipment to management.
-Carry out reasonable duties assigned by management.
-Assist in maintaining an efficient bakery operation.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- At least 1 year of bakery experience.
- Retail bakery experience will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work in different roles as required.
- Availability to undergo relevant assessments if shortlisted.
