Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is inviting applications for 36 General Worker positions on a Fixed-Term Contract within its Rail Network Construction (RNC) division.

About the Role
The successful candidates will assist the Rail Maintenance Engineering (RME) Construction teams with construction and maintenance activities to ensure railway projects are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
This is a hands-on role suited to individuals who enjoy outdoor work and are prepared to work in physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
-Carry out duties assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
-Assist with railway construction and maintenance activities.
-Handle, load and offload construction materials.
-Remove weeds, rubble and waste materials from work sites.
-Sweep and clean construction areas.
-Stack and organise construction materials.
-Use non-mechanised hand tools safely and effectively.
-Clean and maintain tools after use.
-Follow all health and safety procedures.
-Maintain punctuality and professional conduct while on duty.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Minimum Grade 9.
- At least 6 months’ relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Good physical fitness.
- Ability to pass the required medical examination.
- Alertness and strong safety awareness.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be an added advantage.
