Overview
Spur Corporation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wood Assembler / Workshop Assistant to join their production team. This role focuses on assembling wooden products, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safe and efficient workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
– Assemble wooden furniture and components according to specifications and instructions
– Operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely
– Sand, glue, join, and finish wooden parts to meet quality standards
– Inspect completed products and correct any defects or misalignments
– Report equipment issues, material shortages, or production challenges
– Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
– Record production outputs and report defects accurately
– Assist with packaging, labelling, and preparing items for delivery
– Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
Requirements & Skills
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- Previous experience in woodworking, carpentry, or furniture assembly (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge of woodworking tools and machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
