About the Woolworths Customer Assistant: Tills Position

As a Customer Assistant: Tills, you will be one of the team members customers interact with when completing their shopping.

The role involves welcoming customers, accurately processing till transactions, assisting with Woolworths services and loyalty programmes, and maintaining a clean and organised till environment.

Because this is Limited Period Employment (LPE), applicants should note that the opportunity is for a limited employment period rather than a permanent appointment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF-level qualification.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to process transactions accurately.
  • Basic selling skills and product/service knowledge.
  • A friendly and professional approach to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Welcome customers and provide friendly service at the tills.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle different payment methods according to company procedures.
  • Promote Woolworths loyalty programmes and other available services.
  • Assist with services such as utility bill payments and airtime sales.
  • Keep the till area clean, safe and organised.
  • Check pricing and help resolve discrepancies.
  • Follow loss-prevention procedures to help minimise shrinkage.
  • Report suspicious activity or irregularities appropriately.
  • Develop sufficient product knowledge to assist customers.
  • Support promotions and special store campaigns.
  • Remain efficient and professional during busy periods.
  • Follow Woolworths policies relating to attendance, punctuality, dress code and hygiene.
  • Attend relevant team meetings and contribute positively to the store team.

Skills and Personal Attributes

Woolworths is looking for candidates who are customer-focused, friendly, reliable and accurate.
