About the Forklift Driver Position

  • Placing newly received stock correctly

4. Housekeeping

The Forklift Driver must ensure the assigned area remains clean, organised and safe.

Duties include:

  • Keeping aisles clear of obstacles
  • Ensuring customers can enter and leave aisles safely
  • Merchandising received stock promptly
  • Maintaining correct shelf price labels
  • Completing required housekeeping checklists
  • Assisting with canteen and toilet/shower schedules where required

6. Loss Prevention and Security

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying gaps in product displays

  • Ensuring no goods are loaded without proof of purchase or the required documentation

Safety and OHSA Requirements

The successful candidate must:

  • Never overload the forklift
  • Never overload shelving or racking
  • Avoid stacking roof tiles, bricks and cement more than two pallets high
  • Wear a Safety Helmet and Kidney Belt when operating the forklift
  • Never use the forklift to lift personnel
  • Keep entrances and exits clear
  • Report forklift faults immediately
  • Report when the forklift requires servicing
  • Wear protective clothing where necessary
  • Never operate a mechanically faulty forklift
