Overview

Food Lover’s Market is looking for a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join its team in Bruma, Gauteng.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment. This includes cleaning floors, restrooms and other assigned areas, managing waste, maintaining cleaning supplies and ensuring high sanitation standards.

The position is suitable for candidates with previous experience as a Cleaner or General Worker who are comfortable working shifts.

Key Responsibilities

– Perform general cleaning duties throughout assigned areas.

– Sweep, mop, vacuum and clean floors.

– Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture and other areas.

– Clean glass, windows and other surfaces when required.

– Clean and sanitise toilets and restroom facilities.

– Refill restroom dispensers and other hygiene supplies.

– Empty rubbish bins and replace bin liners.

– Clean mirrors, walls, doors, toilets, urinals and tiled floors.

– Maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation.

– Keep cleaning equipment and supplies properly organised and stocked.

– Ensure cleaning equipment is used correctly and stored safely.

– Transport dirty linen to the appropriate cleaning area where applicable.

– Restock designated areas with clean linen where required.

– Assist other departments when necessary.

– Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance concerns.

– Respond promptly to spills and other situations that may create safety risks.

– Complete additional cleaning and general duties assigned by supervisors.

Requirements and Skills

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Previous experience as a Cleaner or General Worker.
• Clear criminal record.
• Preferably reside within approximately 25 km of the workplace.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures.
• Ability to use different cleaning products and equipment safely.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks on time.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Responsible, dependable and reliable.
• Ability to identify and respond appropriately to workplace safety hazards.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts.

Preferred Candidates

The employer has indicated the following preferences:

• South African candidates.
• Candidates between 18 and 40 years old.

Meeting these preferences may be advantageous but does not necessarily prevent other suitably qualified candidates from being considered.
