The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 10 Cleaner vacancies at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for applicants with Grade 10 or ABET Level 4 who are interested in working within the public healthcare sector. Previous cleaning experience is not compulsory; candidates with 0โ2 years of experience may apply.
Successful candidates will help maintain a clean, hygienic and safe hospital environment for patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
-Grade 10 or equivalent qualification, or ABET Level 4.
-Ability to read and write.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Good interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work productively.
-Ability to work under pressure.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
-Willingness and ability to work shifts.
The following will be an added advantage:
- 0โ2 years of appropriate cleaning experience within a healthcare facility or similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Clean designated areas throughout the hospital.
- Clean windows, walls, basins, lockers, kitchens and bathrooms.
- Sweep, mop and polish floors.
- Perform damp and dry dusting.
- Open windows daily for hygiene and infection-control purposes.
- Empty dustbins in designated areas.
- Clean toilets and regularly update toilet cleaning checklists.
- Replenish toilet paper, towels and hand soap.
- Remove waste and place it in designated storage areas.
- Identify and report safety hazards.
- Clean and properly store cleaning equipment.
- Safeguard cleaning materials and equipment.
- Report electrical or mechanical faults involving cleaning machines and related equipment.
- Perform other routine general cleaning and maintenance support duties.
