Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
-ABET Level 4 (Grade 9) or higher.
-Minimum Grade 10 certificate.
-No experience required.
-Good interpersonal skills.
-Basic literacy and numeracy.
-Basic communication skills.
-Knowledge of garden maintenance practices.
-Knowledge of operating horticultural equipment.
-Basic occupational health and safety knowledge.
-Ability to operate gardening machinery and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Mowing lawns and maintaining landscaped areas.
- Watering plants and gardens.
- Planting flowers, shrubs and trees.
- Removing weeds and unwanted vegetation.
- Applying mulch and maintaining flower beds.
- Fertilising lawns and garden beds.
- Planting new trees and other vegetation.
- Assisting with plant propagation.
- Sweeping and raking hard surface areas.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the allocated work area.
- Cleaning restrooms allocated to the Department of Public Works.
- Promoting good conduct and maintaining a safe working environment.
