Learnership Opportunity

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to join its Dispensary Support Learnership Programme.

This opportunity is ideal for young South Africans who have completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science subjects and would like to build a career within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.

Successful candidates will be employed as Dispensary Support Learners while completing the Basic Pharmacist Assistant learning programme.


About the Learnership

The Dispensary Support Learnership is designed to provide learners with practical workplace experience and theoretical training within a pharmacy environment.

Learners will gain valuable exposure to pharmaceutical services, medication dispensing processes, stock control, customer service and healthcare administration.

Upon successful completion of the programme and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant, learners may be considered for permanent employment opportunities within Dis-Chem.


Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Support

โ€ข Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances

โ€ข Assist with the preparation and compounding of non-sterile medicines

โ€ข Support pharmacists with dispensing activities

โ€ข Learn to accurately interpret prescriptions

โ€ข Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and procedures

Stock Control

โ€ข Assist with unpacking and merchandising pharmacy stock

โ€ข Monitor medicine expiry dates

โ€ข Maintain cleanliness and organisation of dispensary shelves

โ€ข Assist with stock control and inventory management

โ€ข Report low stock levels and stock discrepancies

Customer Service

โ€ข Follow up with patients regarding prescriptions

โ€ข Assist with patient service calls

โ€ข Promote health awareness and provide information to customers

โ€ข Assist with chronic medication authorisations

Administration

โ€ข Assist with script tracking processes

โ€ข Support pharmacy administration functions

โ€ข Receive and process dispensary stock

โ€ข Ensure accurate labelling, packing and checking of medication


Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements

โ€ข Grade 12 / Matric

โ€ข Pure Mathematics

โ€ข Physical Science or Life Science

โ€ข Minimum average of 50%
