Overview
Lewis Group is recruiting Drivers across 23 listed vacancies at branches in several provinces across South Africa.
These opportunities are suitable for experienced and responsible drivers who can safely transport furniture, bedding, household goods and other merchandise while providing professional customer service.
The position involves much more than driving. Successful candidates will also assist with loading and offloading merchandise, checking deliveries, maintaining the delivery vehicle, supporting stock control and helping with general branch activities when required.
A key part of the role is ensuring that customers receive the correct merchandise, in good condition and on time.

Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for duties that may include:
– Safely transport furniture, bedding and other merchandise to customers.
– Ensure deliveries are completed according to scheduled routes and delivery plans.
– Check that the correct merchandise is loaded before leaving the branch.
– Ensure merchandise is properly secured before travelling.
– Supervise and assist with loading and offloading goods.
– Deliver products to the correct customer and address.
– Assist customers with placing merchandise correctly inside their homes where required.
– Represent Lewis professionally when interacting with customers.
– Provide friendly and helpful customer service during deliveries.
– Report incorrect, damaged or missing merchandise immediately.
– Assist in resolving delivery-related customer complaints.
– Complete required vehicle checks before operating the vehicle.
– Keep the delivery vehicle clean inside and outside.
– Ensure the loading area or deck remains clean and ready for deliveries.
– Report mechanical problems, damage or unusual vehicle performance to management.
– Assist with arranging vehicle repairs or servicing when necessary.
– Ensure the vehicle is parked in an approved and secure location after work.
– Follow company vehicle security procedures.
– Comply with all road traffic laws and company driving policies.
– Maintain safe driving practices at all times.
– Assist with incoming stock and stockroom organisation.
– Help receive, count and reconcile stock.
– Assist with furniture and bedding stock, including beds and mattresses.
– Ensure the stockroom remains neat, organised and accessible.
– Support stock counts and other inventory-related activities.
– Assist with store displays, promotions and general housekeeping when required.
– Support other branch activities where reasonably required.
Requirements and Skills
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Relevant driving and delivery experience.
- Experience transporting goods, furniture, products or merchandise.
- A clear criminal record.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work responsibly without constant supervision.
- Good knowledge of road safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to follow planned routes and delivery schedules.
- Ability to use GPS or navigation systems.
- Knowledge of local roads and transport routes.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to handle merchandise carefully.
- Willingness to assist with loading and offloading.
- Ability to maintain accurate delivery and vehicle information.
Experience in the furniture and home dรฉcor retail industry will be advantageous.
Experience handling beds, mattresses, bedroom furniture and other bulky merchandise will also be beneficial.
Driver’s Licence and PrDP
Although the basic listing refers to a driver’s licence, applicants may be asked during the application process whether they have:
- A valid Code 10 / C1 driver’s licence.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Previous experience driving trucks.
- Experience with different truck gearbox types.
- Experience driving different truck sizes and brands.

CV Tips for Lewis Driver Applicants
Your CV should clearly display your driver’s licence code and PrDP status near the top of the document.
For example:

PrDP: Valid
Under your previous employment, clearly mention the type of vehicles you drove and the duties you performed.
Instead of simply writing โDriver โ 3 yearsโ, use something more specific such as:
