Overview

Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for a Linen Stores Assistant (Linen Control). The successful candidate will support hospital operations by ensuring efficient linen management, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting with stock control processes.


Key Responsibilities

– Provide a professional linen and clothing service within the hospital

– Sort, count, and pack clean linen for various departments

– Handle soiled and infectious linen in line with safety protocols

– Record and manage linen stock accurately

– Unpack and organise linen in designated storage areas

– Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control

– Support wards, supervisors, and other departments with linen needs

– Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations


Requirements & Skills

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of hygiene, infection control, and safe handling practices
  • Basic understanding of laundry equipment and machinery
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks for extended periods
  • Previous experience in laundry or linen management (advantageous)

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: R138 486 โ€“ R163 131 per annum
  • Additional benefits: 13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing and medical aid allowance
