About the General Worker Positions
The General Workers will assist RME Construction teams with general duties during maintenance and construction activities.
The purpose of the role is to support the team and help ensure that work is completed effectively, efficiently and safely.
With 10 positions available, this opportunity may suit candidates with basic general-work or construction-related experience who meet the minimum requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Minimum Grade 9
- At least 6 months’ relevant experience
- Physical fitness and the ability to undergo a medical examination and be declared fit for duty
- Safety awareness
- Ability to communicate in English
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), where applicable
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Carry out tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader
- Be punctual and maintain sober habits
- Assist with the handling, loading and offloading of materials
- Clean work sites by removing weeds
- Stack materials
- Sweep floors
- Remove and dispose of excess or rubble materials
- Use hand tools, including non-mechanised tools, within the construction environment
- Clean tools
- Support general maintenance and construction activities as required
Working Environment
This is a hands-on general worker position. Applicants should therefore be prepared for physical work and duties associated with maintenance and construction environments.
Candidates must be medically fit to perform the required duties.
