Overview

Food Loverโ€™s Market is looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Picker to join its operations in the Boquinar Industrial Area, Western Cape.

The successful candidate will support daily warehouse operations by accurately picking, packing, wrapping and labelling products for delivery to stores. An important part of the position is ensuring that the correct products are selected and that only stock meeting the required quality standards is dispatched.

This is a physically active warehouse position that requires accuracy, teamwork and the ability to work efficiently during busy periods.

The position reports to the Floor Manager, Floor Supervisor and Checker.

Key Responsibilities

– Pick products accurately according to orders and picking schedules.

– Prepare and complete orders for delivery to stores.

– Pack, wrap and label products correctly.

– Check products to ensure the best available quality is selected.

– Ensure picked items correspond with order documentation.

– Report shortages, damaged products and other discrepancies.

– Maintain an accurate and efficient picking process.

– Keep warehouse work areas clean, organised and safe.

– Assist with effective use of available warehouse space.

– Communicate and cooperate with supervisors, checkers and other warehouse employees.

– Follow company procedures, quality standards and warehouse regulations.

– Handle and move products safely.

– Perform heavy lifting where required.

– Work efficiently during peak trading periods.

– Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

– Assist with general warehouse activities when required.

Requirements and Skills

Candidates should have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Previous experience as a Picker, General Worker or Warehouse Worker.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding warehouse duties.
  • Ability to lift and move products safely.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to pick orders accurately.
  • Ability to follow instructions and warehouse procedures.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Willingness to work shifts.
  • A clear criminal record.
  • Preferably live within approximately 25 km of the workplace.

A minimum of approximately one year of experience as a Picker within a warehouse environment will be advantageous.

Working Conditions

Candidates should be comfortable working in a warehouse environment where working conditions may vary considerably.

Applicants may be required to:

  • Work in cold-storage environments where temperatures may range from approximately -10ยฐC to 34ยฐC. Appropriate protective clothing will be provided.
  • Work up to six shifts per week.
  • Work Sundays and Public Holidays.
  • Work during both trading and non-trading hours.
  • Perform heavy lifting and other physically demanding activities.
