Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced and customer-focused Waiter/Waitress in Fourways, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will help create a welcoming restaurant experience by assisting guests, explaining menu options, taking accurate food and beverage orders, serving customers and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
This position is suited to someone who enjoys working with people, can perform well in a busy restaurant environment and has previous waiter or waitress experience.
Key Responsibilities
– Welcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner.
– Provide menus and explain dishes to customers.
– Recommend menu items and inform customers about daily specials.
– Set up tables with the required cutlery, glassware and other items.
– Take food and beverage orders accurately.
– Capture orders using a Point of Sale (POS) system where applicable.
– Communicate orders accurately to kitchen staff.
– Serve meals and beverages to customers promptly.
– Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation.
– Attend to customer requests and preferences throughout their visit.
– Prepare bills and collect customer payments.
– Clear used plates, glasses and cutlery from tables.
– Maintain clean and organised tables and service areas.
– Address customer concerns professionally and escalate problems when necessary.
– Work closely with kitchen and other restaurant employees.
– Follow relevant food hygiene, health and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Previous experience as a Waiter/Waitress.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Preferably live within 40 km of Fourways.
- Clear criminal record.
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant.
- Ability to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods.
