Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced and customer-focused Waiter/Waitress in Krugersdorp.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming dining experience by assisting guests, explaining menu options, taking accurate orders, serving food and beverages, processing payments and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
This position is suitable for someone with previous waiter/waitress experience who enjoys working with customers and can perform effectively in a busy restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
– Welcome and seat customers in a friendly and professional manner.
– Provide menus and explain available dishes to customers.
– Inform guests about daily specials and recommend suitable menu items.
– Prepare tables with the required cutlery, glassware and other items.
– Take food and beverage orders accurately.
– Capture orders using a Point of Sale (POS) system where applicable.
– Communicate customer orders accurately to kitchen staff.
– Serve meals and beverages promptly and professionally.
– Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and proper presentation.
– Attend to customer needs and preferences throughout their dining experience.
– Prepare customer bills and collect payments.
– Clear used plates, glasses and cutlery from tables.
– Maintain clean and organised dining and service areas.
– Handle customer questions and complaints professionally.
– Work closely with kitchen and other restaurant staff.
– Follow applicable food hygiene, health and safety requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Previous experience as a Waiter/Waitress.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Must preferably live within 50 km of the workplace.
- Clear criminal record.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
The following will be advantageous:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Previous experience within the casual or fine-dining restaurant industry.
- Previous experience with established restaurant brands such as Spur, Panarottis, RocoMamas, John Doryโs, The Hussar Grill, Casa Bella, Nikos Coalgrill Greek, Doppio Zero, Modern Tailors or Piza ฤ Vino.
