Overview

Opportunities are available for customer-focused Waiters/Waitresses (Service Ambassadors) across three locations in South Africa.

The successful candidates will help create a welcoming restaurant experience by greeting guests, explaining menu options, taking accurate orders, serving food and beverages, processing payments and maintaining clean and presentable dining areas.

These positions are best suited to candidates with previous waiter/waitress experience who enjoy interacting with customers and can perform effectively in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

– Welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.

– Seat customers and provide menus.

– Explain menu items and dishes clearly.

– Inform customers about daily specials and make suitable recommendations.

– Set tables with the required tablecloths, cutlery and glassware.

– Take accurate food and beverage orders.

– Capture orders using the restaurant’s Point of Sale (POS) system where applicable.

– Communicate customer orders accurately to kitchen employees.

– Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.

– Check plates, glasses, cutlery and other items for cleanliness and presentation.

– Respond to customer requests and preferences.

– Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.

– Present customer bills and collect payments.

– Clear used plates, glasses and cutlery from tables.

– Maintain clean and presentable dining and service areas.

– Work closely with kitchen and restaurant team members during busy periods.

– Follow applicable food hygiene, health and safety requirements.

– Deliver consistently high standards of customer service.

Requirements and Skills

Applicants should meet the following essential requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Waiter or Waitress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to take and communicate customer orders accurately.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multitask during busy service periods.
  • Professional and friendly attitude.
  • Good personal presentation and hygiene.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while performing restaurant duties.
  • Willingness to work shifts where required.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

The following would be advantageous:

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Previous experience in casual or fine-dining restaurants.
  • Previous experience with recognised restaurant brands.
  • Ability to communicate in Afrikaans.
  • Experience using restaurant POS systems.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Residing within approximately 10 km of the relevant workplace.
