Overview
The Capital Hotels and Apartments is seeking two skilled Barmen to join its hospitality teams at The Capital Melrose in Gauteng and The Capital Boardwalk in Gqeberha. This role is ideal for experienced bar professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding beverage service.
The successful candidates will prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and coffee beverages while maintaining high service standards, managing bar stock, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for hotel guests.
Key Responsibilities
– Prepare and serve cocktails, wines, spirits, beers, coffee, and other beverages to guests.
– Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
– Maintain a clean, organised, and fully stocked bar area.
– Monitor and manage bar stock, ensuring accurate stock control and reporting.
– Process guest orders accurately using the hotel’s Point of Sale (POS) and Property Management System.
– Recommend beverages and promote premium drinks to guests.
– Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and responsible alcohol service standards.
– Work closely with waiters, kitchen staff, and hotel management to provide seamless service.
– Handle guest enquiries and resolve service issues professionally.
– Assist with opening and closing bar procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- 1โ2 years’ experience working as a Barman in a hospitality environment.
- Strong bar skills, including preparing cocktails, specialty drinks, and coffee beverages.
- Computer literacy with experience using a Hotel Management System (Protel experience is advantageous).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional appearance and presentation.
- Honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Candidates relocating will be responsible for their own relocation costs.
