Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 10 certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in food preparation, catering, hospitality or institutional kitchens will be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays where required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the preparation and cooking of meals for learners.
  • Serving meals according to approved menus and portion sizes.
  • Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Cleaning kitchens, dining halls, food preparation areas and storerooms.
  • Receiving, storing and rotating food supplies correctly.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with health regulations.
  • Assisting with stock control and reporting shortages.
  • Safely operating kitchen equipment.
  • Disposing of kitchen waste appropriately.
  • Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the School Principal, Hostel Supervisor or Kitchen Supervisor.
