The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is inviting applications for its 2027 Postgraduate Bursary Programme.
The bursary programme supports talented South African students pursuing postgraduate qualifications in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields that contribute to the growth of South Africa’s space science and technology sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are passionate about research, innovation, technology, environmental sciences, engineering, and the future of space exploration.

SANSA aims to develop highly skilled researchers and professionals who can contribute to South Africa’s growing space industry.
Successful candidates will receive financial support towards their postgraduate studies while gaining opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research and technological innovation.

Bursary Funding Value
Successful students may receive funding of:
Honours Students
โข Up to R150 000 per annum
Masters Students
โข Up to R160 000 per annum
Doctoral Students
โข Up to R170 000 per annum
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
โข Must be 32 years old or younger
โข Must be studying or intending to study towards a postgraduate qualification
โข Must be enrolled in a STEM-related field
โข Must have achieved a minimum average of 65% in the most recent academic year
โข Must demonstrate strong academic potential
โข Must demonstrate financial need
โข Must have an interest in working within the space science and technology sector
