The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is inviting applications for its 2027 Postgraduate Bursary Programme.

The bursary programme supports talented South African students pursuing postgraduate qualifications in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields that contribute to the growth of South Africa’s space science and technology sector.

SANSA aims to develop highly skilled researchers and professionals who can contribute to South Africa’s growing space industry.

Bursary Funding Value

Successful students may receive funding of:

Honours Students

โ€ข Up to R150 000 per annum

Masters Students

โ€ข Up to R160 000 per annum

Doctoral Students

โ€ข Up to R170 000 per annum


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

โ€ข Must be 32 years old or younger

โ€ข Must be studying or intending to study towards a postgraduate qualification

โ€ข Must be enrolled in a STEM-related field

โ€ข Must have achieved a minimum average of 65% in the most recent academic year

โ€ข Must demonstrate strong academic potential

โ€ข Must demonstrate financial need

โ€ข Must have an interest in working within the space science and technology sector
