Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

-ABET Level 4 / Grade 9 / Standard 7 / NQF Level 1 qualification.

-South African citizenship.

-Ability to communicate in English and one other official language.

-Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

-Ability to read and write.

-Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.

-Understanding of handling cleaning materials and detergents.

-Ability to operate basic gardening machines and equipment.

-Good interpersonal and communication skills.

-Willingness to work extended hours when operationally required.


Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Cultivating and maintaining gardens and landscaped areas.
  • Preparing soil for planting flowers, shrubs and plants.
  • Watering, fertilising, pruning and weeding flower beds.
  • Mowing lawns and trimming grass edges.
  • Irrigating lawns and maintaining healthy vegetation.
  • Loading and unloading gardening equipment and materials.
  • Removing refuse and garden waste from SAPS premises.
  • Loading refuse onto vehicles for disposal.
  • Maintaining clean, safe and neat surroundings.
  • Assisting with general grounds maintenance duties.

  • Basic gardening and landscaping knowledge.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness for manual outdoor work.
  • Good organisational skills.
