Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and responsible Security Driver to join its Pretoria security team. The successful candidate will provide safe transportation for security personnel while also performing security duties aimed at protecting company employees, customers, property and assets.
The role requires a professional driver with security experience, strong situational awareness and the ability to respond appropriately to operational and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
– Transport security officers safely to and from their assigned stores.
– Conduct vehicle inspections before and after every trip.
– Report vehicle defects, damage or documentation issues immediately.
– Ensure vehicle licences and required documents remain valid.
– Maintain the company vehicle in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition.
– Follow approved routes and obtain permission before making route changes.
– Observe all traffic laws and practise safe driving.
– Ensure all security posts along the assigned route are properly staffed.
– Report staffing shortages to the Security Supervisor.
- Maintain discipline among employees travelling in the vehicle.
- Secure the vehicle and hand in the keys after completing duties.
- Report lost property found inside the vehicle.
- Patrol company premises and remain alert to suspicious activities.
- Monitor and control pedestrian and vehicle access points.
- Search staff, suppliers and vehicles where authorised.
- Maintain occurrence books, registers and incident records.
- Protect company property from theft, vandalism and unlawful activity.
- Assist with opening and closing security procedures.
- Monitor CCTV, alarms and other security equipment where required.
- Report suspicious behaviour involving employees, customers or suppliers.
- Respond to security incidents and emergencies according to company procedures.
- Contact police, emergency services or management when required.
- Support evacuation procedures and maintain order at assembly points.
- Prepare detailed written reports on incidents and unusual activities.
- Provide professional customer service to employees, visitors and customers.
- Perform other security and transport duties assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12, Matric or Senior Certificate.
- Grade C PSIRA accreditation.
- Current PSIRA registration.
- Valid Code 10 driver’s licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit.
- At least three years of experience in retail security, shopping centres or warehouses.
- Previous shuttle or staff transport driving experience.
- South African citizenship.
- Clear criminal and credit record.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Advantageous Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a similar Security Driver role.
- Ability to communicate in an additional South African language.
- Experience supervising or leading security personnel.
