Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting Security Controllers for talent pools across seven locations in South Africa. The successful candidates will supervise on-site security operations, manage loss-prevention activities, investigate incidents, monitor high-risk stock and ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant security legislation.

These talent pools are intended to create a database of suitably qualified candidates who may be considered when relevant vacancies become available. Placement in a talent pool does not guarantee immediate employment.

Key Responsibilities

– Supervise on-site security guards and allocate duties.

– Monitor security operations and ensure compliance with company procedures.

– Respond to security alerts and suspicious activities.

– Liaise with off-site CCTV monitoring teams regarding incidents and footage requests.

– Investigate theft, stock losses, shrinkage, damage and unlawful entry.

– Monitor high-risk and high-value stock.

– Conduct physical security inspections and audits.

– Oversee access control, vehicle entry and warehouse deliveries.

– Ensure stock movements and supporting documents are properly verified.

– Manage opening and closing security procedures.

– Respond to alarms, emergencies and evacuation situations.

– Assist emergency response teams and maintain order at assembly points.

– Coordinate with the South African Police Service when required.

– Preserve evidence and prepare case files for disciplinary or legal proceedings.

– Complete incident reports, occurrence books, registers and audit records.

– Maintain confidentiality when handling CCTV footage and personal information.

– Enforce loss-prevention, health and safety and security procedures.

– Provide guidance, coaching and support to security staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or Matric.
  • PSIRA registration with Grade B or Grade A accreditation.
  • At least two years of retail security experience in a shopping-centre environment.
  • Experience in CCTV monitoring, access control and incident reporting.
  • Knowledge of loss prevention and stock-control procedures.
  • Experience using electronic security and incident-reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of POPIA requirements relating to CCTV footage and personal information.
  • Ability to write statements and handle evidence correctly.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear criminal and credit record.
  • Valid driverโ€™s licence and reliable transport.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, overtime and standby duties.

Advantageous Requirements

  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Computer proficiency in email, reporting and incident-management systems.
  • Experience operating Hikvision security systems.
  • Knowledge of retail shrinkage prevention and loss control.
