Transnet Corporate Centre is inviting applications for its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for Non-Technical Learners (University of Technology) based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

This 12-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme is designed for University of Technology students who have completed all their theoretical studies in Information Technology and require workplace experience to complete their qualification.

About the Programme

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme aims to provide students and recent graduates with practical workplace experience that complements their academic studies.

Participants will receive hands-on training, mentorship and exposure to real business operations while developing workplace skills that improve future employability.

Throughout the programme, learners will work alongside experienced professionals and gain practical experience within various Transnet departments.


Key Responsibilities

Successful learners will:

Task Execution

-Assist with departmental projects and work assignments.

-Perform routine operational duties under supervision.

-Support administrative functions.

-Prepare documentation and reports.

Learning and Development

-Participate in workplace training and development programmes.

-Attend workshops and mentorship sessions.

-Shadow experienced employees to gain practical knowledge.

Communication and Collaboration

-Work with internal departments and stakeholders.

-Assist with responding to enquiries.

-Support teamwork and departmental objectives.

Research and Analysis

-Conduct research and collect data.

-Assist with analysing information.

-Prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Office.

Compliance and Safety

-Follow Transnet policies and procedures.

-Comply with workplace safety requirements.

-Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Completed all theoretical subjects in Information Technology at a University of Technology.
  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • No bursary obligation with another company.
  • An official In-Service Training Letter from the University for the WIL Programme.
  • Certified copy of South African ID.
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate.
  • Full academic record.

Preference will be given to Persons with Disabilities.
