Steinmรผller Africa is inviting applications from unemployed young people for Boilermaking and Welding Apprenticeships in Bethal, Mpumalanga. The programme combines theoretical learning, practical training and workplace experience leading towards a recognised artisan qualification.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Grade 12

-English

-Mathematics or Technical Mathematics โ€” Mathematical Literacy is not accepted

-Physical Science or Technical Science

-Minimum 50% pass mark

-Must be unemployed

-Must be 35 years old or younger

-Physically and medically fit

-Clear criminal record

-Proof of residence, such as a municipal account

Subjects relevant to the trade, such as Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD), will be advantageous.

Candidates must reside within a 50 km radius of one of the following power stations:

Arnot, Camden, Duvha, Hendrina, Kendal, Kriel, Kusile or Majuba.

No accommodation or transport will be provided. Successful candidates who do not already live locally must therefore be willing to relocate to Bethal or surrounding areas.

What the Apprenticeship Includes

During the programme, apprentices will:

  • Complete prescribed theoretical and practical training modules
  • Gain workplace experience
  • Complete tasks and assignments allocated by mentors or training officers
  • Provide practical support to production/sites when required
  • Prepare for the applicable trade test
  • Complete the required trade test before the end of the apprenticeship

Successful completion of the programme and trade test will result in a formal qualification as a Qualified Artisan in Boilermaking or Welding.
