Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
–Grade 10 certificate โ NQF Level 2
-Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence with PrDP
-Operating Certificate / Departmental Competency Pink Card for specialised equipment
–Five years’ driving and operating specialised equipment experience
Candidates should also have knowledge of vehicle inspection, operation of vehicles and specialised equipment, safety requirements, teamwork and communication skills.
Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Performing activities related to the operation of vehicles and specialised equipment
- Loading and offloading goods/equipment
- Inspecting and maintaining equipment
- Reporting defects
- Keeping log sheets
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment
- Applying health and safety measures
- Cleaning and lubricating machinery
- Grading gravel roads
- Regravelling and shoulder maintenance
- Rendering driving services
- Performing activities relating to specialised equipment
- Transporting work teams and materials/equipment
- Identifying and repairing minor mechanical problems
- Checking fuel, oil, tyres and water
- Inspecting vehicle/equipment
- Completing vehicle logbooks and trip authorisations
Candidates will be subjected to a practical assessment.
