The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for five (5) Food Service Aid positions at Cullinan Care & Rehabilitation Centre.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with previous food service experience who are passionate about supporting patient care by preparing and serving nutritious meals in a hospital environment.

Job Overview
The successful candidates will assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals for hospital patients while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness. They will also help prepare therapeutic diets, clean food service equipment, manage food storage areas and ensure that the Food Service Unit operates efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be responsible for:
-Performing routine duties within the Food Service Unit.
-Assisting with the preparation of normal and therapeutic diets.
-Cooking meals according to patient dietary requirements.
-Serving meals while maintaining food quality and safety standards.
-Washing pots, plates, utensils, kitchen equipment and food preparation areas.
-Cleaning drains, grids, refrigerators, freezer rooms and storerooms.
-Packing and unpacking food supplies into storage areas, refrigerators and freezers.
-Following departmental food service policies and hygiene regulations.
-Maintaining cleanliness throughout the Food Service Unit.
-Rotating between different workstations within the unit as required.
-Assisting colleagues during busy periods or staff shortages.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10, AET Level 5 or Grade 12 (school report with official school stamp or equivalent qualification).
- At least one (1) year of previous work experience in a food service environment.
- Experience in a hospital food service environment will be an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles.
- Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Physical fitness to perform manual duties.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Reliability, honesty and the ability to work well in a team.
